How do I import my IPAD bookmarks and manually place them in my new file folder structure on my Mac

On my macbook, in safari I built a bookmark file folder structure.

I have been filing my bookmarks in categories (e.g. home management, business management, etc)

I have a first generation IPAD. I have hundreds of bookmarks in files under different categories.

How do I import my IPAD bookmarks and manually place them in my new file folder structure on my Mac Book? Use the cloud, Itunes, etc.? Thanks
