How do i transfer my photos from a portable storage device to my mac?

it would be handy to know what type of storage device it is ?

You usually just plug it into your Mac using a firewire or USB cable and it should be automatically detected. Then you go from there.

If that is not happening, like Ric mentioned above, we would like to know what device it is.

plug in the portable storage device. Select all the pictures. Drag and drop them onto the iphoto icon. give the computer a few minutes. Presto.
