Hello all, hopefully I'm posting this in the correct section, if not please let me know so I can get it moved to the proper place.

I work for a school district and have recently been put in a position that I'm not too comfortable/familiar with. The former specialist that handled our Apple hardware/software has moved on so I've trying to pick up where he has left off. We currently have an estimated 5500 macs throughout the district all running 10.5. I'm working on an image for the summer to hopefully get them all to 10.6. My major issue at the moment are the back-end of things. Users authenticate through AD and their home directories sit on windows shares (Windows server 2008 R2).

Yesterday I brought up a new Xserve with snow leopard on it in hopes of making it a new master. I was able to make a recovery from the current master. We have one replica going but that's running 10.5. I'm assuming I can't point that to the new master I brought up? Am I even going about this the right way? I want to bring everything over to 10.6, what would be the best way about migrating over? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Mike
