Help retrieve trashed file - in os x !

Hi Ric.

The forum looks great.

I trashed a movie file from i movie then emptied the trash.
It was months of a family visit ... so would be great to get it back.
have done nothing else on Mac except email
Hope you can wind the time back.

your best course of action is some software called DataRescue II

This will/should help you recover the 'trashed file' they have a demo that you can dowload first. Ideally not onto the Mac that you want to recover the data from...but if you have no choice !

You also need a external drive to recover the data to, otherwise DataRescue won't work.

Sorry but there is no hidden/magic solution inbuilt in OS X, you need to use third party software to recover the data.

I use DataRecue myself on various clients Mac's and for the most part, aslong as the person stops using the Mac as soon as they realise that they have trashed something that they shouldn't have, then we normally recover the data !
