Welcome, Donald! You'll find a number of folks here who are more than willing to help with any issues you are having. It is beneficial, though, that when you make a post requesting assistance, that you include 1) the exact Mac OS you are running, and 2) your exact Mac model (or models if you have more than one machine).

Also, please make sure you are doing the following:

1. Disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs, from a software perspective.

2. This task is critical: frequently make backups to an external device.
