hard disk cleaner

can anyone recommend a good hard disk cleaner which is simple to use?

what particularly are you wanting to clean ?

I take it you are from a PC background ?

It's not really needed on a Mac.

hi Ric yes I was a pc user and have recently switched to mac, with os x. I used a hard disk cleaner on the pc to get rid of unwanted files, secure free space etc and wondered if there was similar for a mac.

m facing a big problem.. i can't erease or make format fo the internel hard disk on my powerBook using Mac Os X 10.3.4
I tryied Disk utility, olso is not working the msg is:
The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)


Right now i Boot my PoweBook from external HardDisk, and i wana install Os again on the built in Hard disk...

can some one help me in this issue...

Hi there constantius,

it's not so much as a problem on a Mac.

If you want to do routine maintenance stuff...get OnxY.

The Mac has certain maintenance functions that it performs itself, but you can use OnyX as well.

There isn't really a great deal for you to do...just backup important stuff... and once in a while run Repair Disk and Permissions using 'Disk Utility'...
