Globe Appears during boot

Ever since I upgraded to snow leopard 10.6.3, I get a globe at startup and it takes an abnormal time to boot. The globe stays there for over a minute before the apple appears.

My IMAC (2.16GHz Core 2 duo processor, 2GB RAM).


Any ideas on how to resolve this people are claiming improved boot times. I miss that feature.
