Email Account Disappears Using Mail & Cannot Recover

While traveling in Croatia where Internet connectivity is spotty, my wife gets the "Cannot Retrieve Mail" error message. She clicked on "Repair" account and her Earthink account on her iPad promptly totally disappeared. She has been on Support chat with Earthlink and they say all settings are correct. When she opens Mail on the iPad now the error message says, "Cannot Get Mail. The mail server "imap.earthlink.net" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings." Her Mail account on her iMac is totally fine.

Hello and welcome.

I would try completely deleting the Earthlink account from the iPad, powering it off/on, then re-adding the account. If you are having connectivity issues, wait until you are in an area that has strong Wi-Fi before attempting this.
