If I close a file in Finder, instead of going back to where I was in Finder........it just closes. I'm always have to reopen finder to get back to the folder I was working in. I'm sure its just a setting but I'm not finding any info on it.

thanks

Hello and welcome,

Can you clarify a bit? Do you mean when you close a Finder window?

the same thing happens to me and it drives fricken crazy... So what he is saying is... you open a folder using finder, you then open a document to view it and then when you close the document you would hope that the finder window would still be open but it isn't it disappears and you have to start over... so annoying! please help!

Sounds innocuous but probably serious. I recommend reinstalling macOS by running the latest combo update, or reinstalling via Recovery.
