Emac Freeze

Hi
My G4 Emac running OSX 10.5.2 keeps crashing and freezing. Sometimes it will stay running for a few minutes sometimes it won't even start up. The icons on the screen fragment just before the freeze or crash and then it goes dead. I've backed everything up but think the hard drive is dead. Is it an easy job to replace a hard drive, or does anybody think this is fixeable without going that far?

Can you help?

Thanks

If you want to change the hard drive on eMac there's a good visual step by step procedure available at http://www.sterpin.net/ddemac.htm. Okay, it's in french but it clearly shows how to do it. If you understand a bit of french you'll find that it's very well explained.
Have fun!

The French nickname many things. "La bête" is how he calls his eMac computer. It means "the beast", nothing to be scared of.
Replacing the hard drive seems like a straightforward job. If you have a late generation eMac it's even easier.

For those who want to replace their optical drives in the emac you can eliminate a couple of steps from the previous linked tutorial. For one, you don't have to remove the fan. :)
