Converting old internal drive to external

I use an old 6500 for photo storage and recently upgraded the internal hard drive. I'd like to convert the old Quantum 3.5 10.2 GB to an external drive. I can't throw Anything away!!!! Is there a techi out there who can give me some pointers?

Why not buy an external IDE HDD encosure and drop your old drive in there? Tigerdirect has a few basic designs for 20 bucks shipped but I like the added hub aspect w/ firewire, fan & temp sensor of this one myself.
