Console immediately crashes. Also, strange episodic freezing of all apps!

My computer makes random frequent freezing episodes. These episodes are punctuated by a periodic "thinking"-type sound (like it's working), which comes up every 5 seconds or so and lasts about a second each time. The episode lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. Everything freezes, although usually only the page I have active (mainly Firefox) will show up as not responding on activity monitor. I have noticed that ocspd comes up on activity monitor right before the episodes. Sometimes ocspd will be not responding, although usually I can't see this because once the episode is over everything goes back to normal.
WHAT IS WRONG? This has been going on for like a year and it's mainly just an inconvenience, but still.

Oh, and Console flat-out doesn't work. When I open it up, it immediately stops responding and makes everything freeze for a bit.
I don't know what is relevant information-wise, so I'm just going to paste the Hardware Overview:

As for Console crashing, I went into terminal and typed tail -f /var/log/system.log and got this:

Should I trash com.apple.console.plist?

I transfer my stuff to Google Docs fairly regularly and I don't have anything more important than schoolwork, which is usually online anyway, so it's not like this is too big a deal.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what's going on?

Sounds like your Harddrive may be having issues, ensure you're backed up, and run Disk Utility and Verify Disk.
