In an earlier correspondence with Mr. Cooper, he expressed apprehension about the program MacBooster 3. He also suggested some alternative programs in which he had confidence. Unfortunately, I seem to have mislaid the list of those recommended programs. Would you please be so kind as to remind me of those recommended programs again. Thank you for your assistance.

I suspect the expert, Cory Cooper, will answer this soon. I also suspect that some (or maybe most) of what he recommends are ones I would recommend also.

The two venerable programs I rely on fir disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs are Onyx and TechTool Pro. In fact, I use them once a week as part of my disk cleanup/maintenance/backup processing for both of my machines. They have never failed to deliver.

Onyx is available for free from here, but you need to get the correct version, based on what OS you are using:

TechTool Pro V8.0.3 (latest version) can be had as part of a $54.99 bundle from here:

I bought the $55 bundle. Installed it. However when I attempt to install Tech Tool, I get this message:

“MacUpdate Desktop” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

I've moved it to trash, re-downloaded, etc and always get the same response.

Unfortunately, it looks like any application within that bundle is "controlled" by that MacUpdate Desktop app. That is something www.macupdate.com started doing about 2 months ago. Supposedly, it was for a "few" apps only.

I looked at the Trouble Shooting part of the macupdate site for the MacUpdate Desktop app, but saw nothing regarding the message you are getting. Here is a link that you can try to contact them about your issue:

http://support.macupdate.com/section/desktop/

Just click where it says "Contact".

By the way, what Mac OS are you using?

Sorry I am late to the party...

The three apps that I use and recommend are DiskWarrior, Drive Genius, and Techtool Pro. Cocktail and OnyX are good utilities as well.

Not sure what is up with your MacUpdate issue. What bundle did you buy - this one? If so, contact them as honestone suggested, as they should be able to get things installed properly if it uses their MacUpdate Desktop app as the installer.
