SOLVED CDs & DVDs

I am running OS 10.12.6. on a late 2013 27 inch iMac. When i bought it. I also got an optical drive to play CDs and DVDs. It worked for a while, now ejects every disc i insert. I also have an older MacBook running 10.6.8. It shows the same result. What happened?

-Does the issue happen on both Macs with all CDs/DVDs?
-Which brand and model is the external optical drive?

Thanks, Cory for responding. I have an Apple USB Superdrive USA, part #MD564LL/A.

As to your 1st question, today I tried a number of discs, and had no problems. I'm pretty sure I even tried one that would not work before, but if I did, it works now. So it may be a false alarm.
