but its not a movie

everytime i try to open a downloaded software file or driver quicktime opens and says "error opening movie" even if it's not a movie. i dont know any default apps for opening exe. extentions im f ed help

Hi there and welcome,

select one of the files...then command + i and scroll down to the bit that says "open with" then change that to your Application of choice, you can also press the change all button so that all other files with the same extension are opened in using the same Application.

Hi there,

.exe files are not 'openable' on a Mac so Safari has nothing defined.
