iMovie - synching audio and video

I made a video of an event with my iPhone, and then placed a small audio recorder closer to the action, giving me a somewhat better audio track than I could get on my phone, being farther away. Now I'm trying to synch these up in iMovie. At the beginning, they're synched, but as it goes on, the audio gets farther and farther ahead of the video. Is there some way to adjust it so it matches up all the way through?

So, you videoed an event, and then made a separate audio recording later? How do you expect them to be in sync?

No, they were recorded simultaneously. Sorry, my wording wasn't quite clear.

That's ok. All I can suggest is that you split the audio track in to small sections, and adjust the position of each section to align it with the video.
