Hi,
I bought a Mac Air. I tried loading Windows 7 using Boot Camp and using an external drive.
But this message came out "There is no USB drive connected to the system. Please
insert a USB drive to continue." It could not detect my external drive so to speak.
However, when playing DVD movies, it works. That means only the Boot Camp can't detect
my external drive or my thumb drive. Please kindly advise.
Thanking you all in advance. Much appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

Boot Camp doesn't officially support installing Windows on an external drive, that is why the USB HD isn't seen. The Boot Camp Assistant partitions the internal drive and then allows the installation of Windows there.

There are some workarounds posted around the Internet that may be of help, but some can get quite involved.
