Backup/Restore Disk, etc. For New iMac ?

Hello,

Again, thank you all for the great help.
Sr. Citizen now, and I guess that's a great excuse for being so dumb with all of this.

But, I've spent all of my life (fighting) with Windows.
Know nothing about the Apple world, but thanks to you folks, am slowly learning.

New iMac.

I remember when I got my new Window(s) pcs, they made a big deal of
creating a "Restore/Backup" disc before doing anything.

Anything similar I should be doing now ?

Any initial setups, also, I should be doing ?

As I mentioned to you in another thread, there are two "methods" of doing it. Of course you need an external drive with enough capacity. This thread that I started (along with many useful posts by others) should help you out:
