Operating Mac OS Ventura on iMac, running Safari.
I have been unable to solve this problem via any Settings: As stated above, when I have saved an article of interest to Desktop, and later I click on the icon, the resulting window bears no resemblance to the original saved text, being "skeletal"by comparison with no helpful information.

I am an elderly man, and certainly no "techie", so I would greatly appreciate any help that might be offered. Perhaps there is some simple step that I need to take that I not aware of, and I have tried, using the Control, Option and Command buttons, to no avail.

Thank you,

Are you 'Right clicking' on the article on a web page and doing a' Save as' ?
Is this the result?

If you save it it like that, it is only saving the HTML so there is no CSS to style it.

You would be better off doing 'Add to reading list'

Thank you, Lufbrarunner, for your reply, and I will follow your advice to add to Reading List.

From a fellow Brit now living in British Columbia. Best regards,
