Apple mail

I'm unable to log in to my personal email account in apple mail. When I enter my required password I get the following message. "unable to verify account name or password". Key Chain access tells me it's the correct password and I haven't changed my account name. It was working fine until about a month ago. It works in web mail but not in apple mail. Help please.

• What version of macOS?
• Who is the email provider?
• Is the account setup in  > System Preferences... > Internet Accounts?
• Is it setup as POP or IMAP?
