Apple mail app

I have a Mac mini M1 12.2 and recently it deletes all the mail received the previous day. I've checked all the settings but apparently, I'm missing something. My mail remains on the server but I've used the Apple mail app for over ten years now and would like to fix it. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Did you check in the Mail app, preferences then mailbox behaviors?

Yes several times, last night I shut off all the rules and restarted my Mac and turned them back on and today all is well!
