hey guys! thanks in advantage for your time.

I have a early 2015 macbook pro retina. I used to have Macos Catalina, until I updated to Monterey last week.

Aidrop stopped working: I mean, I can send file from my macbook to iphone/ipad. But I cannot receive. Iphone finds mac, but nothing happens when I start sending.

The only temporary solution is turn off/on bluetooth and try again (often works) or to turn off/on the mac... but after a few time it stops working again.

I have tried to:
-reset nvram (did not work)
-update to a more recent macos version (did not work)

and did not find any other solution online.

PLEASE HELP. I work a lot with aidrop and this is a real trouble for me

Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Ensure Both Devices are on the Same Network:
    • Sometimes, AirDrop works better when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Make sure your Mac and iPhone/iPad are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Check AirDrop Settings on Mac:
    • Open Finder on your Mac.
    • Click on Go in the menu bar, then select AirDrop.
    • Ensure that Allow me to be discovered by is set to Everyone or Contacts Only.
  3. Check AirDrop Settings on iPhone/iPad:
    • Open Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner of the screen (iPhone X and later) or up from the bottom (iPhone 8 and earlier).
    • Press and hold the network settings card (where the airplane mode, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth icons are).
    • Tap on AirDrop and set it to Everyone or Contacts Only.
  4. Restart Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:
    • Turn off both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your Mac and iPhone/iPad, wait a few seconds, and turn them back on.
    • Go to System Preferences > Network on your Mac, and turn off Wi-Fi. Then, turn it back on.
  5. Check Firewall Settings:
    • Open System Preferences on your Mac.
    • Go to Security & Privacy > Firewall.
    • Click on Firewall Options....
    • Ensure that Block all incoming connections is not checked.
    • Make sure Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections is checked.
  6. Reset Bluetooth Module:
    • Resetting the Bluetooth module can sometimes help resolve connectivity issues.
    • Hold down Shift + Option and click on the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar.
    • Select Reset the Bluetooth module.
    • Restart your Mac and try using AirDrop again.
  7. Check for Software Updates:
    • Ensure that both your Mac and iPhone/iPad are running the latest versions of their respective operating systems. Sometimes, updates include fixes for connectivity issues.
    • Go to System Preferences > Software Update on your Mac.
    • Go to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone/iPad.
  8. Safe Mode:
    • Restart your Mac in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key during startup.
    • Try using AirDrop in Safe Mode. If it works, there might be a third-party software conflict.
  9. Create a New User Account:
    • Create a new user account on your Mac to see if the issue persists there.
    • Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
    • Click the + button to add a new user.
    • Log in to the new account and test AirDrop.
