Hi all,
I am trying to get an old Macbook ready for donation. I am not able to reinstall the OS due to unavailability of the reinstall disk. I have deleted all files under Documents, Pictures, Movies etc. Can I wipe out all the files under Library and trust that blank Library files will be recreated upon restart? How can I be sure I am cleaning this thing thoroughly? Unfortunately much searching has not yielded an answer to this particular problem.

Thank you!!

I should also add that I did create a new user account and deleted the existing user account (there was only one).

It is always best to completely get rid of everything on the hard drive, then do a "fresh" installation of the OS. The only way you can do that is to purchase the OS 10.6.8 DVD from the Apple Store (here is the link):

Not sure if you will get OS 10.6, or OS 10.6.8. If it is anything less than OS 10.6.8, you can download and install the OS 10.6.8 Combo Updater from here:
