Where has 'Photos' gone in El Capitan?

I have moved over from a PC and now have an iMac which has El Capitan on.

Having used a Mac Book Pro for a few weeks in the past, I'm sure there was a 'Photos' icon on the task bar at the bottom, but it is no longer there and I've searched everywhere in Finder and Launcher but to no avail.
Ive looked in the sidebar and although there is a Documents folder, there is no Photos folder.
I am a photographer and will be mainly using my Mac for Photoshop. I really need to keep my processed pictures in some sort of folder/sub-folder.

Please advise me where/how I can find the Photos folder.
TIA

Hello and welcome.

By default, the sidebar of Finder widows only shows Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. You can add other folders from your User folder as follows:

1. Click on Finder > Preferences... in the menu bar in Finder
2. Click Sidebar
3. Tick the checkboxes next to the folder(s) you want to add, such as Pictures
4. Close that window
5. Open a Finer window and the Pictures folder should be there
