I cannot boot in safe or normal mode. Also tried PRAM reset which went to blue screen and sundial. Safe mode lets me put in password and then gets stuck on blue screen. I've got a late 2007 MacBook Pro running Yosemite ( just did another update a few days ago). Help!

Hello and welcome.

The blue screen usually means that the OS is corrupted, or you have corrupted/incompatible startup items.

-Do you have a current Time Machine or other backup of your data?
-Do you have an external hard drive with Mac OS X installed that you could startup from?
-Can you perform an Option-boot and startup from the Recovery HD partition?

If you can get to the recovery drive, you can run Disk Utility and repair the disk and permissions and restart. If it still fails, you could try to reinstall Yosemite over the top of your existing install.

Hopefully the hard drive isn't failing, as you could lose data if you don't have a backup.
