Stuck in Column View on opening desktop screen

Hi folks.
I arranged my opening desktop screen as columns a few months ago. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get out of the column view and see it as random files and folders so I can organize them on the screen the way I need to. I need to pile them close to each other in bunches for a specific reason at the moment. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

Do you mean your Desktop view, or a Finder window? View Options is where you can set that default - Menu Bar > View > Show View Options or right-click on a blank section of a Finder Window. It is location-aware, so you will have different options depending on what you are looking at.
