Stuck at the beginning

I just got my new iMAC Mini up and running. It seems lots of things point me to an Apple Menu. Help says the apple menu is the apple icon on the upper left of the screen. There is no apple logo there, I always says Finder. It might be behind tge finder window, but I can't close that. Where is the apple menu?

I found the problem. The monitor resolution was too low. When I raised it up the little apple icon became visible to the left of the Finder word.
