setting privileges

I'm trying to trash a couple of old imovie folders on an emac (800mhz/G4) system 10.2.8 to obtain needed GB space to install mac OS 10.4.11 BUT when Itry to delete the folders I get the following: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." I've gone to 'get info' in the menu but folders are locked (cannot get unlocked) and option/shift will not delete them either.
