Seeing who is in my Apple Mail "To:" email list.

I like to send e-mails to my singing group e-mail list. Sometimes the Apple Mail program grabs the e-mail list that it has in its “Previous Recipients” window instead of the more current list in my contacts. Until recently, I could click on the To: field and it would expand my list and I could see who is receiving my mail. But that’s not working anymore (Calibre?) How can I look at who’s getting my e-mail before I send it?
