"Recent Items" not listing recent items?

Hi. Since upgrading to Yosemite, my "Recent Items" (under Apple menu) is showing Applications, but no documents are showing up. Checked System Preferences>General>Recent Items - and have it checked off at 20 items. But have no idea what to do. Help is welcome!
