Quit 2 apps, launch a 3rd

here's the Automator apps

Individually, if I double-click them, they work.
collectively as one app or fired from the Calendar (Open file - at time of event), which is the end desire, they don't work.
I tried a 5s pause in between each. No difference.

any thoughts on a fix.?
