potential source of infection

I have a PC running XP SP3 and a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. Couple of days ago the PC was infected with Win32:IBryte-BK [PUP] and I'm beginning to think that I can't get rid of it, that I'll have to do a clean re-install. I have both machines linked through BitTorrent Sync and Teamviewer. If I transfer my documents from PC to Mac, even if I bring the PUP with them, would there be any downside?
