The 1st popup notice was that my mac was hacked and to use their Macafee to fix it. I know better than to fall for that. I have Avira and Intego. Ran both and they said no problem. So then the popups said my icloud was hacked. Checked that and no apparent problem. Then it changed to my gmail accounts. I don't use that.

But the popup won't go away. How do I get this pesky popup scam to to stop?

Hi skeeter and welcome to the forums..

I just ran into this at just a couple of days ago, the alert being a system alert is real confusing.

Here are the steps to get rid of these alerts.

1. Open the Safar Settings (Preferences in Monterey or earlier)
2. On top click on Websites.
3. On the left scroll down and select Notifications.
4. Remove everything in the list on the right.
5. Quit Safari.
6. Restart your Mac.

You should no longer see the alerts anymore.

Did it .

I only saw Allow "websites to ask for permission to send notifications". I unchecked that. What will that cause?

BTW, I found "pop-up windows" "unallowed" from 3 trusted sites and allowed that because I've been have trouble with one (Feedly).

I'll tell of how well the advice worked. Hoping for the best!
