Aloha queenee444.

If you upscale a photo to a lager resolution, it will become slightly blurry, unless it has a high dpi value.

Basically, a pixel is a picture element, or a single dot on a display. It is used as a measurement of six on a screen. For example, a computer display may have a resolution of 1600x1050. If your image is 738x768, then it would display at a size of roughly just less than half the width and 2/3 the height of your screen.

-Is this a photo you took with your digital camera or phone? If so, what brand/model?
-What version of iPhoto are you using?
-What are you going to use it for after resizing to 1000x1000...screen, print, etc.?

We can help you get it resized.

Hi,

To add to CC help, I tend to use Pixelmator and Aperture for my image work, iPhoto does a great job and you do have some basic editing tools like cropping etc. As my first screen shot.

Putting aside the image quality of enlarging some types of photos possibly the easiest way for you would be to export a copy of the photo from iPhoto to your desktop then open in preview and enlarge as shown in my 2 > 3 screen shots.

I've found the best software for adding pixels to images is Preview, it does an excellent job.

Thank you Cory. Ok, I see. I upgraded to the most recent version of iPhoto and I took the photo I guess with my old iPhone, 3GS. I was trying to make a print to canvas picture. It probably won't come out good then. Thank you so much for explaining that to me, I didn't know what pixels were, haha.

Ok, I'm trying the preview method. They said they wanted my photo to be 1000x1000 and mine is 738x768.

How do you do what you did with the instructions you gave me? That's awesome.

I forgot I put the values in my original message Oldscribe, sorry. What does the pixel resolution mean? Can you change it? Does it come from the original picture taken?

In Preview:

Tools > Adjust Size
Use the smaller number, so 738 change to 1000
Ok
Select the square
Hold down shift and drag a 1000x1000 square
Now Tools > Crop

Hi queenee444,

Just follow Kavemans hints, and here are a fee snap shots of how. Also the resolution can be kept the same between say 476 and 1000.;)
