Couple months ago I acquired a new battery for my MBP (15''Mid2010). However, even thought it seems that everything its alright, I can't get much out of it.

As you can see in the attachment, simply by standing by, the current usage points to 2h00.
Could anything be wrong or it's just the quality of the hardware?

Hello and welcome.

-Is it a genuine Apple battery, or a third-party replacement?
-How may and what apps are currently running?

The Current Usage should fluctuate, depending on what tasks you are performing.

Hi Cory, thank you for the quick feedback:)

-judging for the price, third-party, I guess. Gotta check.
- None at all. Simply by letting the Mac Standby with no activity whatsoever i'm looking at a 2000-3000 mah usage.

No worries...

What is the app that you are using to check the status of the battery?

Mine gets similar results - Current Usage is far lower than other Time Remaining categories. Sounds like yours is working normally. Maybe the actual Battery Health app is using a lot of resources checking for the battery status. ;)

Hope that puts your mind at ease,

thanks so much for the effort, Cooper:) Still find odd that it is consuming so much energy :( guess I'll have to get used to be plugged to a wall :)

No worries.

Tips to extend battery life:

-Turn of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi if not in use
-Unmount and disconnect any hard drives or peripherals
-Lower the brightness on the display
-Disable Location Services and Notifications
-Make sure Automatic graphics switching is enabled in Energy Saver
-Eject any CDs/DVDs or SD cards if not in use
-Check for "stuck" print jobs
