Mac has its own mind when its dark

Hey...Happy New Year to you guys n' gals.

My first little thing for the New Year is this damn keyboard and screen on this C2D MBP. Sitting in my room in the dark the keyboard will flick about with the ambiance of the backlit keys and its quite annoying. When I know its dark enough sometimes I would like to just keep them on maximum backlit setting but even when I turn it up it will flick about and go down and up according to its own devices. It doesn't seem to be very clever like I thought it would be.

Of course, parallel to this is the screen dimming itself too. I'm sick of it automatically going to a lower brightness. Can we help with these things please?

dunno about the keyboard but for the screne you just go in to system prefrences and set up your own power prefrences ie dim screen : never
