Java

Greets,

I may be wrong, but I think that Java is a behind-the-scenes thingy that, when it is operating, I'm not aware of it.

However, from time to time, I run into messages telling me that I do not have Java configured. My Java preferences show that "J2SE 1.4.2" is checked. (The other choice is J2SE 5.0).

I'm running a MacBook Pro (10.4.9) with Safari (2.0.4)

Is there something else I need to do or set to get Java to work in all situations?
