I upgraded my MAC to MAC OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. Subsequently I was prompted to upgrade to Java 8, Update 45.
Now Java won't run. I keep getting a message to download JAVA. The Java Control panel shows that Java is installed and enabled. I have already tried to go back to an earlier version of Java.

Hello and welcome.

Java can be a major headache.

-How are you using Java - in a browser, to run applets, to run apps that require it?
-If within a browser - is it enabled and have you tried it in different browsers - Safari/Chrome/Firefox?

I have been unable to run Java within Safari. I tried different versions and made sure it was enabled. I downloaded Firefox and Java works fine.
