I Have a 500gb Macbook Pro running Leopard. Have already partitioned it. Have made a complete bootable backup with the system, applications and files, on a Seagate hard drive of my other computer (Imac) running Lion. Want to install all that from the Seagate drive onto the laptop partition. How do I do it?

Hello and welcome.

-Which exact models of MacBook Pro and iMac?
-Which exact versions of OS X on each?
-How dd you partition the MBP HD?
-How did you create the bootable backup?
-Have you tried booting the MBP from the Seagate?
-You are trying to simply clone/copy the iMac system from your external Seagate to a partition on the MBP HD, correct?

As long as the MBP will support Lion, there are several ways to accomplish this. You can use Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper!, or some Terminal commands.
