help needed please cant get g4 to use dvd burner

hi all,ive got a g4 400mhz (yikes) and i was given a lite on dvd burner,disc utilites see's the drive but it has 000mb and when i go to burn disk burn doesnt reconize it,nor does disk copy,i have tryed patchburn but to no avail,the writers dvd burning spped is 18x,if some one could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated thank youSorry ric im running os x10.2.8,just seen the stickie note on top of forum cheers
