G4 won't mount drive with OS 10.3.9

I have a G4 tower with two hard drives - one has OS 9.2 and I've upgraded the System on the other to OS 10.3.9 It's been booting just fine off the OS X HD until now - the drive with OS X won't boot, mount, or show with Norton Disc Doctor. I had just changed the owner name per instructions from Ric, here. Could changing the names and passwords of the administator and owner have anything to do with this problem?
