Do you have any Dymo label printing software on your Mac, Sanford L.P is associated with that
Hi, yes thanks for the reply and info. I have a Dymo Labeller. I googled 'Samford, L.P.' and it turned up as part of the Dymo installation.. I also googled the Gemalto Inc, and found it is part of an security system.. I am now getting rather peeved that programs are installimng items, that do not be obvioulsy linked to programs.. Ok the Dymo is something i have used. but have given up on it. easier to use inkjet with labels shetts. but what this Gemalto is linked to is unknown... I am very annoyed... these firmes shoudl atleast name the aps to link with their program. an

In 99.9% of cases these extensions are genuine and required for functionality of the apps you use. Normally you would see a notification appear on your screen to say they have been added and as you can see you can turn them off (disable them) but you cannot remove them. The only new thing about this is the Login Items window now displays background extensions as well.
You may have an app your rarely use so you can save a little of your CPU resources by turning off associated background extensions for that app. You will be prompted to turn them back on if you use the app.
Obviously if you have deleted the app you should turn off the background extension for it.
