Hi,

Since I bought a new Mini M4 and upgraded to Sequoia, I have noticed an irritating thing each day when I boot up the Mac Mini M4.

I always before left Finder folder windows minimised by the Dock open when I closed down the old Mac and they came up, each with the folder name when I booted up the next day. This was useful as I could get on with work easily from where I left off.

Now, although the Finder folder windows open at the bottom just as before, when I hover the mouse over each, they have the same name. Only by opening each in turn and clicking on the folder name at the top of the finder window do they retain the correct name all day when I minimise them again.

Has anyone had this trouble too? If so is there a fix so all my finder windows retain their correct names till the next boot up ??

many thanks

Not certain if I understand your query exactly, but do you simply want all the Finder windows to be open exactly as they were when you logged out/shut down? If so, try this. When you are ready to shut down or log out (in case you want the Mini to stay on overnight), when you are at the point when you are shutting down or logging out, from Finder, from the , go down to your choice (Restart…, Shut Down…, etc.) and a dialog window should open with a tick box for “Reopen window when logging back in” (or what choice you selected) making sure it is checked, then all the active/open Finder windows from your previous session should be open the next time.

By the way, the release candidate for Sequoia 15.4.1 (24E263) just came out, meaning the final version should be issued soon. If you are experiencing bugs with the current version, the update is supposed to address know issues. “Supposed to” being the operative word. I don’t want to update my new Mac Studio M4 Max just yet, but I do have beta versions of Sequoia running on external SSDs, and the update looks to be stable. I haven’t had to report any bugs to Apple, so far.

I did the actions you suggested but nothing has changed. It is the fact that when you hover the mouse over each reopened finder folder on boot up, minimised at the bottom bar, the names are exactly the same for all. The name displayed on hovering is not the actual name of the folder. I have to maximise the folder and click on its name at the top of each window to get it to retain the correct name throughout the day's work. Then, despite telling the computer to reopen all folders on next boot up, they appear duly minimised but all with the same name again when you hover the mouse over each.
