Jumpy finder windows

I have a folder with a lot of subfolders. I work in list view and use the small triangle on the left of the screen to open sub-folders while still keeping the entire structure of the main folder in view. When I open a second sub-folder, the window jumps back to the top, forcing me to scroll down again to see the contents I want. I have no hot corners set.

Does anyone have a fix for this irritating problem -- which also happens in all of my help screens?

I'm running OS 10.8.5.

Hello and welcome.

How do you have the folders in list view sorted? By Date Modified? Try a different sorting method.
