SOLVED Desktop folders created by the OS

MacOS 13.2.1 on iMac
Since a recent update, the Desktop has begun creating folders into which it moves files that are on my Desktop. It's a clever un-cluttering idea, but I am not sure I like it.

How/where do I control it?

In Finder, select View and uncheck Use Stacks.
