Compressing word

How can I compress microsoft "word" documents to a pdf for on my mac?
I know about the quarzt filter, but this only opens up in Preview...not in word...
My Mac is running on Mac Os X 10.6.4.

Steps to Convert MS Word Documents to PDF on Mac OSX:

• Open your word file in your text editor.
• Click File then Print.
• In the Print window, click the PDF button at the bottom-left then select "Save as PDF…" option.
• Choose the location, rename your PDF file, then click Save.
