A few days ago something strange happened: I became unable to log in to my Macbook Air (M2 processor running Sequoia 15.3.1). I typed the correct password in multiple times and each time it did not accept it (and yes, it soon moved on to telling me to wait for a minute or five minutes before trying again, which I did do). So far as I could tell each letter registered (though it becomes hard to know for sure once the password field is filled and I am still typing things). Also, I did check for capslock--it was not on.

Anyhow, I eventually fixed this by plugging in a usb keyboard and using that to type the password. Hey-presto, I could sign in!

Thinking that my Macbook's keyboard must have some kind of malfunction I opened up an email and typed every letter in the alphabet both upper and lower case, and then did the same for all of the non-letter keys on my keyboard. I found not one problem, it typed them all fine (and I am typing using the keyboard here and am experiencing no problems).

Does anyone know what's going on? Why would the keyboard seem to not work when inputting my password but then work fine once I am signed in?
