battery problem?

Charging battery on Macbook Pro, green light is on but battery does not seem to have been charged, instead of lightning sign in the battery there is an X. Say wha?
Also fan is running, rather loud.

Hello and welcome.

Usually when you see an X in the menu bar, it means the battery is exhausted and needs replaced.

Did you check the battery status in About This Mac > More Info > Power?

Fans could be running high due to this issue.
