I saw this before:

I have already downloaded and installed the update on both of my Macs (it takes some time). I don't use Safari much at all, but it appears to address the Spectre issue. To obtain it, visit the App Store, and click on Updates. It should be the first one on the subsequent list.

This link explains what the update includes (official Apple site):

I just wish Apple would release a High Sierra update to address the speed issue. It is still slow (especially compared with Sierra) for starting up, shutting down, and switching start up devices. I don't have any software designated to start up or shut down for either of my Macs, both of my Macs are well maintained (I keep both of them "lean, mean, and clean"), both have SSDs, and I am using less than half of the space on either SSD. I of course understand that 3 of my programs (Office 2016, Tech Tool Pro, and 1Password) do have start up "daemons", but they are nothing obtrusive. They have always been there, whether I use El Capitan, Sierra, or High Sierra.
