Apple Account Problems

Have just bought a MacBook Air and I'm getting blocked at every turn when trying to set up an Apple Account. Years ago I had a Mac I used for work and I believe I would have had an Apple ID then. When trying to set it up it tells me my email is already used so maybe I have forgotten what the old account was called. I thought it would just be a case of setting up a new account but I've tried everything. A bit complicated I know but there must be some way of fixing this. Maybe someone on here could help or lead me to an Apple help site, Thanks in advance for any help,.

Unfortunately, Apple is the only one that can help with an Apple Account.

Its worth trying to recover your old account so Cory's first link is a good one. Really all you need is your old email address used to set it up. If you have no access to that email address then setting up a new one is your only option.
In the second link Cory provided look to the top right and you will see; "Create Your Apple Account". click that and fill in your new/current information.
